Effects and compositing

March 26, 2020April 9, 2020 markzerop

Unfortunately because of the current world situation I've had to relocate and work from home for the remainder of the project. Trying to maintain the same level of quality whilst working on a simple laptop is pretty much impossible. Things such as lighting tweaks for each scene can take a day or more just for… Continue reading Effects and compositing

Clothing and cloth physics

March 7, 2020March 9, 2020 markzerop

Until now the characters have been nude. Whilst this was fine whilst working with proxies, as soon as I tested with the full models things became a bit uncomfortable. So I finally carved out the time to put some fabric down. I wanted the female character to keep the ballet inspiration. She was always going… Continue reading Clothing and cloth physics

A look back at the development of the Forest

March 2, 2020March 2, 2020 markzerop

Now that I have the bulk of the film plotted out and most assets worked up to close to final, I think it's a good time to look back at how they have developed. So let's compare the current versions with some of the beginning concept work I did. Here are the Tree plans I… Continue reading A look back at the development of the Forest

Block Pass (the film so far)

March 1, 2020 markzerop

Here's the version of the film with the rough blocked out pass. All the timings are pretty much locked in now. I've also included one of the early render tests for each shot in order to get a good idea of how it should look after rendering. Though it hasn't been through a pass of… Continue reading Block Pass (the film so far)

Fixing Problems

January 30, 2020January 30, 2020 markzerop

To say there's been a few issues with the rig is probably an understatement. I don't know much about rigging or the technical aspects to character creation but I'm learning on the fly. It usually resolves around a process of me trying hundreds of different things and pushing every conceivable button until something good happens,… Continue reading Fixing Problems

Working on making more realistic skin sculpting and hand painted textures. Still a lot of things to work on but I'm quite pleased with it for 4 hours of work
#sketch #drawing #photoshop #digitalart
Started something. Hoping to finish it with a more painterly style. :)
Finally got around to playing BOTW so I decided to sculpt a goron to celebrate it. I didn't get around to finishing it but I thought I'd post it just as it is :)
I've been missing life drawing a lot lately so I decided to work on some brushes that had that same feel of conte on newsprint in photoshop. It still needs some tweaking and I can't quite get the nice darker conte lines just yet but here's a quick doodle I did to test them out
I've been playing around with this model for a few days in my spare time and thought I'd post it :) (sorry for the watermarks, I haven't committed to the full license yet) next to take it through texturing to learn some more there! #maya #arnold #robot #3d #cg #cgi #cgartist
I still have some proportions to work on and the anatomy is not quite there yet but the rough blockout is nearly complete
I've been taking the @flippednormals switching to blender course and I've had a blast going through it and getting to grips with blender. Here's the final render of the mini project that finishes the course. Now I'm looking forward to diving into some mini projects of my own and playing around with some of the other cool features hidden in blender.
Trying to get back into some animation again! I've spent the last couple of days playing around with this inbetween other projects and had a lot of fun with it. Still more to fix up but I thought I'd show what I have so far. Feedback and crits welcome!
a quick zbrush doodle of one of Chiara Bautista's drawings.
More stylised sculpts since that's what people wanted to see 😊. I thought I'd try putting a bit more effort into the presentation with this one and include a song that suits the story. Original art work from @tomwilltell
I made this quickly yesterday as a break from some other work and I was going to wait until closer to Halloween to post it. but since I won't be posting any other work today I'll share it now.
I wanted to do a more ambitious sculpt today but I feel as though I've lost my inspiration. I did manage to get this quick one out though. I struggle with faces a lot still, especially younger faces so I wanted to challenge that by sculpting a female face.
I did a quick sculpt of one of @tomwilltell 's illustration of the woodcutter. The shapes in the designs are beautiful and the feeling of the illustrations are always incredibly moving. This is still a work in progress but I'm running very low on energy to continue so I thought I'd drop it as is.
A gesture study with a sculpt.
