One of the scenes I wanted to do tests for immediately was the run scene. I wanted to convey the sense of movement as rapid and wild, and It was also one of the first tests in trying to make the 3d work have a 2d feel.
In order to get the character model moving so early in production I used maya’s auto rigger over the still in progress model, Then I threw some simple mocap data onto the rig. The automated process causes a lot of jank and poor movement despite the nice motion capture data, but it serves the purpose for the test.
