I have been really struggling to draw and animate the past few months, It's been a really tough year and I've not been in the best place mentally. Lately I've been going hiking and learning photography to try and break out of the mindset I'm in. Apologies to anyone who has been hoping to see more drawings or sculpts from me but It's just not something I feel I can do at the moment. I've started a photography account to seperate it from my usual work, so if you would like to see some of my journey with photography, you can find it at it's new home @mzeroph. More stylised sculpts since that's what people wanted to see 😊. I thought I'd try putting a bit more effort into the presentation with this one and include a song that suits the story. Original art work from @tomwilltell

I made this quickly yesterday as a break from some other work and I was going to wait until closer to Halloween to post it. but since I won't be posting any other work today I'll share it now.

I wanted to do a more ambitious sculpt today but I feel as though I've lost my inspiration. I did manage to get this quick one out though. I struggle with faces a lot still, especially younger faces so I wanted to challenge that by sculpting a female face.

I did a quick sculpt of one of @tomwilltell 's illustration of the woodcutter. The shapes in the designs are beautiful and the feeling of the illustrations are always incredibly moving. This is still a work in progress but I'm running very low on energy to continue so I thought I'd drop it as is.

A gesture study with a sculpt.

I wanted to push outside my comfort zone with today's sculpt. Mainly to make sure I had to use reference instead of making it up as I go. So here's a Chimp! Enjoy

Timelapse of my 45m face sculpt.

I did a quick 45m face sculpt to test out not using the smooth brush in zbrush. Instead using the clay build-up gently to build a smooth form. I'm still a bit heavy handed with it and need to take more time but it definitely makes better results.

Here's today's attempt at the sculpt I lost yesterday. I've called it sooner than I wanted to because I don't think it's quite as good as the one I lost, so I got a little frustrated and wanted to start something fresh.

I spent 9 hours today sculpting over this block out and lost all the work 😔 there was some really nice stuff in there too. So I thought I'd post this anyway and hopefully redo everything tomorrow with a fresh start.

A one hour torso study.

I'm going to be starting the @flippednormals introduction to sculpting course so I wanted to put a benchmark down of what my level is before starting. This is probably my best attempt at a sculpt yet so I'm really excited to see how I do after this. (I wasn't using reference for this so there will be a lot of issues I could have fixed through observation and also... don't look at the back of the hair 😬😬)

I persevered a little more with this and worked on the face. I also block in the hair but it's really rough. Definitely time for bed now.
